claiming love

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Asalam alaikum wa Rahmatullah! InshaAllah hope you are all doing well - it's hoooooooot over here in Canada, I'm feeling sweaty and lazy today :p but alhamdulillah everything is going good. I actually have a few things to blog about but as mentioned feeling lazy right now ~ ~ so will blog them later (including a very sweet award from my sister Hajar - thank you!)

For today I will leave you with a little story that is in the preface of the book Ashraf's Blessings of Marriage, which was narrated by Shaykh Ihtishamul-Haqq Thawni:
A young intelligent maiden was once walking through town, when some unscrupulous male cast an evil gaze and became enchanted upon her beauty. He followed her out of town some way.

Sensing mischief, the young lady abruptly turned around and confronted this man behind her, demanding sternly, 'Why are you following me?'

'I have fallen in love with your enchanting beauty!' replied the male.

The wise maiden commented, 'No big deal, a human falls in love with a another human, but I shall tell you a small secret... look yonder, comes my sister; younger and more pretty than me, if you were to fall in love with her that really would be something!'

The fool turned around to have a look, whereupon the lady gave him a big kick up the backside... 'Scoundrel! So is this upon what you claim love? The first news of somebody more attractive than me... and you are willing to goggle and incline towards her!' Walking away, she left the idiot to sulk at his stupidity.

Now off to make banana bread inshaAllah!
